Cerebral Palsy
I'll start first with his name. Chad was born premature at 26 weeks. I knew he was
going to have a tough road ahead so I wanted to give a name that would prepare him.
The name Chad means 'battle' or 'warrior.' Those words fit him perfectly. Everyday
is a challenge but he approaches it with a smile. His particular form of Cerebral
Palsy affects all of his extremities as well as his speech. Chad is dependent on
others for all activities of daily living. Although his speech is limited (he can say
15-20 words and complete short sentences and phrases), he understands what is being
said to him and he follows instructions well. Receiving therapy services at NDT has
boosted Chad''s confidence and improved several areas such as posture and transfers.
He loves learning new tasks and we are able to reinforce and replicate at home what
is taught during therapy. The therapies have also improved his performance at school.
He has more endurance to get through daily tasks. I value NDT's individualized
approach to therapy based on the child and not just the diagnosis.
Additional information about Cerebral palsy is available on the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) website or the National United Cerebral palsy site
and Georgia based United Cerebral palsy site.

Asperger Syndrome
Sami is a smart and well behaved 4 year old who was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. He
has been receiving Occupational Therapy with Becky for about a year. He loves his weekly time
with her and she has been a tremendous help to us in transitioning Sami through his first year of
preschool and milestones like potty training. He is flourishing and growing and improving by the day.
This would not have been possible without Becky, Judi and the staff of NDT. Visiting NDT feels like coming home.
Additional information about Asperger syndrome can be found on the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) website.

Autism Spectrum Disorder
Megan is blind, autistic, and developmentally delayed.
When Megan started therapy, she had knee pain, little endurance and would drag her right foot.
She also had trouble getting dressed, spitting out toothpaste and putting on her shoes.
Her therapists used different techniques, combining therapy with things that Megan likes.
This kept Megan interested and enabled her to improve in many areas.
Today, Megan can get dressed with some help, is spitting out her toothpaste and has started to run.
NDT Programs provides a caring and family oriented environment which maximizes her potential.

International
Our first trip to Augusta was back in 2005 when we went down to meet Judi for the first time. This year we celebrated our 10th year of Judi treating our daughter Kiara. Kiara, now aged 13, has been managed and treated successfully by Judi who follows the NDT school of thought and whose clinic, NDT Programs, is a testament to successful treatment of children who are now adults spanning over the last 25 years.
Our family lives in India and traveling to Augusta takes 3 flights and over 24hrs. Initially, our trips were for 3 weeks but then became 6 months as we saw huge benefits doing these intensives which involved 2 hours of PT daily. In fact, the primary reason that Kiara was able to make the gains that she has, has only been because of the intensive and aggressive approach of daily therapy which was followed by Judi.
The carryover for motor learning is much better if therapy is done daily, moreover daily therapy ensures maintenance of muscle lengths, better management of muscle tone, and prevents the development of detrimental occurrences like tightness, contractures, holding patterns, etc.
Starting with rolling over, to crawling, to standing and finally assistive walking are the more salient functions that Kiara gained over time thanks to her intensives in the US and follow-up in India.
It was the persistence, dedication, attention to detail, physically exhaustive work, a patient intelligent and analytical mind, and true love for treating and helping children is what makes Judi a truly unique therapist.

Neurodegenerative disorder
My son's name is Cannon Ward.
He is 15 years old and has a neurodegenerative disorder and is in a wheelchair.
He has been a patient at NDT for 12 years. The therapist at NDT have always provided more than just therapy for my child.
They help provide home plans, how to progress during the week when not at therapy, and are 'over the top' when it come to loving my child and pushing him to be all that he can be. I wouldn't want him anywhere else.
